Royal Point Academy's purpose for existing as a existing as a Christian school is to educate children in all disciplines from Biblical worked view in order to prepare them to live according to God's design with the regard to the specific gifting He has bestowed upon each of us.
Since the primary reason for the existence of the school is a spiritual ministry, evangelistic efforts are made to bring all students to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ so that the teaching of the spiritual truths may have a firm foundation. This is followed by instruction in right thinking, good conduct, and clean living in the light of the principles of God's Word.
The academic program, through the traditional approach, is developed to provide students with the best possible program of studies. There is emphasis on the mastery of the fundamental blocks of material necessary for satisfactory achievement in these areas. Methods of teaching proven to be effective are utilized with a constant search for better methods. Realizing the difference in innate ability, we encourage and expect each student to do his best. We believe the traditional system of education educates the mind and builds character. It encourages competition and teaches the value of living under a free enterprise system of government.
Character training is an important element here at Royal Point Academy. We believe that the heart of character training is obedience ( deciding to do right), which will eventual cultivate an inner self-discipline and is essential to the emotional, physical, social, and spiritual well being of the student. The teacher is the authority in the classroom. Discipline is administered firmly but fairly. To obey, to do right, to love God, and to always measure ones attitudes against the principles laid out in the Scriptures, are characteristics we strive to instill in each student, thus equipping them for their role in God's plan for their life and for their proper place in society.

MISSION STATEMENT OF RPA
ROYAL POINT ACADEMY EXISTS TO BRING STUDENTS
TO JESUS SO THAT HE MIGHT BLESS THEM.
Royal Point Academy's purpose for existing as a Christian school is to educate children in all disciplines from Biblical worked view in order to prepare them to live according to god's design with regard to the specific gifting He has bestowed upon each of us.
Home and School Responsibility:
Deuteronomy 6:7
"And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."
Since the primary reason for the existence of the school is a spiritual ministry, evangelistic efforts are made to bring all students to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ so that the teaching of spiritual truths may have a firm foundation. this is followed by instruction in right thinking, good conduct, and clean living in the light of the principles of God's Word.
Isaiah 11:2
Jesus, the Master teacher, has enabled us by the Holy Spirit to impart wisdom of the Lord in all aspects of life: spiritually, physically, socially, and academically. He is the source of learning whether it is in math, language arts, sciences, social studies or any other discipline.
The academic program, through the traditional approach, is developed to provide students with the best possible program of studies. There is emphasis on the mastery of the fundamental blocks of material necessary for satisfactory achievement in these areas. Methods of teaching proven to be effective are utilized with a constant search for better methods. Realizing the differences in innate ability, we encourage and expect each student to do his best. We believe the traditional system of education educates the mind and builds character. It encourages competition and teaches the value of living under a free enterprise system of government.
Character training is an important element in Royal Point Academy. We believe that the heart of character training is obedience (deciding to do right), which will eventually cultivate an inner self-discipline and is essential to the emotional, physical, social, and spiritual well being of the student. The teacher is authority in the classroom. Discipline is administrated firmly but fairly. To obey, to do right, to love God, and to always measure one's attitudes against the principles laid out in the Scriptures, are characteristics we strive to instill in each student, thus equipping them for their role in God's plan for their life and for their proper place in society.
STANDARDS OF CONDUCT
Habakkuk 2:14
“For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea."
RPA conduct as ambassadors on behalf of Christ (II Corinthians 5:20) therefore our prayer and training is focused on helping our students to learn to live in obedience to authority at home, school and in the world which surrounds them, in a way that pleases God. Upon this premise they can in turn influence their world in such a positive light that others will see the excellence of God through their lives, as well as His glory.
RPA provides an environment, which will assist young people to develop spiritually. the student at RPA is taught to endeavor to avoid practices which cause the loss of sensitivity to the spiritual needs of his own physical, mental, and spiritual well being.
As a result of our convictions based on Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things". The school, therefore, requests parents to assist the academy in instructing and demonstrating to children a proper ethic in relation to God and man as described but not limited to the following ideas:
Refrain from swearing , indecent language, disrespect to peers and authority, involvement in inappropriate music, printed materials, as well as inappropriate games and toys, or movies which encourage disrespect towards God, persons, or property. Refrain from violent behavior towards peers and authority as means of play or response. Maintain Christian standards in courtesy, kindness, morality, and honesty.
Students are expected to abide by these standards throughout their entire enrollment. Students and families who are not in harmony with the policies set forth in this document by RPA as well as the ideas of the Christian life may be asked to withdraw whenever the general well being of the mission of this academy is at stake, even though there may be no special breach of conduct.
In this atmosphere of definite and positive Christian standards of conduct, clear scholastic planning and genuine interest between faculty and student, there is a fine opportunity for development of consistent and strong Christian character. Amos 3:3 states, "can two walk together lest they be agreed?" May we agree on those issues, which count towards building in our children a sense of worth as God's children so they may affect their society as responsible and loving stewards of His earth?
DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS
1. If the student is behind two months, it is considered delinquent and the
student will not be able to return to school until the account is current.

The following is an example of a Contract for Payment:

If your child has not been picked up by 3:45 they will be sent to the office. A $5.00 charge will be assessed through the office per child for every 15 minutes or fraction thereof. When you arrive you must come into the office to pick up your child and sign out the time of pick-up to avoid any disagreements.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
1. CLASSIFICATION OF ABSENCES
A. Excused absences, as determined by the office, is given for:
(1) Student illness
(2) Death in the family
(3) Doctor's appointments
B. Unexcused absences are given for any reason other than "a" or "c" the student
will be allowed to make up work and have it returned by the following day or
student will receive zeros in all class-work not done on the time the teacher
has requested. Missing work will be sent home with the student on the day in
which he returns. No work will be allowed to be sent home on the day of the
absence, this gives the teacher that afternoon to have all work ready and
prepared for the student on the day of his return.
C. Pre-approved excused absences are allowed in unusual situations.
(1) A request for a pre-approved unexcused absence should be made by
the parent in the form of a personal visit or phone call to the
administrator explaining the need for the absence.
(2) If the administrator approves the absence, the administrator will send
note with student, to the teacher, explaining the need for the absence
requesting that the student be given permission to do his work in
advance.
(3) The teacher(s) should assign advanced work (exercises, reading,
outlining, etc.) to be completed before the student leaves.
(4) If the assignment is not turned in on time, the teacher should give zeros for all the subjects and, at their discretion, may assign extra work to be done for homework.
(5) It is the student's responsibility to see the teacher about all tests and
make-up work regarding such an absence. It is not the teachers
responsibility to be reminding the student or parent of what is
missing!
2. Procedures for the absences from school
The first day a student returns to school after an absence, he must bring a dated, written note from the parent, telling the reason of the absence. This note is to be turned in to the office.
3. Procedures for Doctor Appointments
If the student misses three hours or less for a doctor's appointment, they are not counted absent. if they are more than three hours, it is counted as one-half day.
4. Tardiness
A. Promptness is a character trait, which we seek to install in all of our students. the late arrival of even one student penalizes the whole class by requiring the teacher to spend valuable class time repeating instructions that have already been given.
B. Elementary students who arrive late are instructed to go to the school office to receive a tardy slip.
C. Students with three unexcused tardies receive one unexcused absence. An unexcused tardy is the direct responsibility of the student, such as, failure to get ready to for school on time, loitering, or other student-caused tardiness. Three unexcused tardies will result in one absence.
D. Students are considered absent half day if he arrives after 10:00 a.m. or leaves school before 1:00 p.m.
5. Classroom Attendance
A. No classroom teacher is to give passes to go anywhere unless this departure is under their direction.
B. Any faculty member responsible for an individual missing any part of a class must provide a pass for the students to leave class.
6. Extended Absences
A. Credit may not be given for a grade after a total of seventeen (17) excused or unexcused absences during an academic year.
B. An Absentee Committee will review absentee records when absences are high. If no response is given by parents to explain the excessive absences, credit will not be given for that grade.
C. When extenuating circumstances exist, parents and students may appeal this non-crediting action to an appeal board, consisting of the administrator and the Absentee Committee.
D. The final appeal may be made to the Advisory Committee of RPA.
7. Missed or Make-Up Work
All work must be picked up the next day, after an absence, thus allowing the teacher time to prepare instruction and get together all books and assignments. These procedures assist teachers in not having to take teaching time while preparing work for a parent to pick up. Getting missed work is the responsibility of the student/parent. The student will then be allowed to make up work and have it returned by the next day. Students will receive zeros for all work not turned in the day the teacher has requested. (Including Test and Quizzes.)
ACCIDENT POLICY
1. Any student who has an accident must notify a teacher at once. First aid will be
administered and parents will be notified if deemed necessary.

the parents the same day it occurs.

evidence of illness, such as vomiting or fever, the student will have the option of
staying in the school office for15 minutes or retuning to school.
2. If, after the 15 minutes have passed and the student still feels ill, the parents will be called in order to make the decision to remain in school or go home.

HOMEWORK POLICY
To involve parents in their child's education, and for the students mastery of skills, homework is assigned.
We believe that the school and parents must work together as an educational team! So because of that parents are asked to sign a contract at the beginning of the school year which explains our homework policy and defines the minimum role which parents are asked to assume.
The school asks you, as parents, to sign the homework steno or return an email after you have reviewed and/or assisted your child in the completion of the assignment.
1. Homework is to aid the student’s educational development and not to discourage them. Students should not spend more than one hour total, unless there is a special assignment. This hour includes actual work, studying for a test or quiz is not included in this hour. If so, please contact your child's teacher.
2. We believe that the primary responsibility for educating the students rests with
the parent. A formal teaching program in a school is supplement, not a
substitute, for the parent’s role. For this reason we encourage parents to be
involved in heir child's homework.
3. Our goal is that homework would never be an excuse for a student to skip
Wednesday night services. Because of this goal, there is NO HOMEWORK
assigned on Wednesday's.
4. Any student who fails to turn in a homework assignment will be required to make up the assigned work issued for that day and must be turned in by the following day. If student fails to turn an assignment the consequences are as follows:
1st Offense - Written warning notice will be sent home

5. It is the responsibility of the student/ parent to inquire about assignments,
quizzes, or test that the student may have missed due to absences. A ten (10)
point deduction will be taken from any quiz or test taken the day of ISS. Student
will receive zeros for their daily work, but it must still be completed.
6. There will be a fee of $70.00 charge for any student having to serve ISS. This fee must be paid on the morning of the ISS or you will be called to pick-up your child and they may not return to school until the ISS has been served and the fee paid. The days missed will be counted as unexcused absences.
7. Tutoring is available to all students who are having trouble with a particular
subject. The time will determine on who the teacher is and when she may be
available. There is no tutoring on Wednesday's due to evening services. No
exceptions! Pricing is $5.00 for every 30 minutes.

worship.

If a student fails two or more major subjects they will be retained for the year. Please keep in mind that if this occurs RPA does not have a summer school program and does not offer any kind of extra credit or testing in order to promote the student.
STANDARDIZED TESTING
Each student, grades K-5 through 6th, is given a Stanford Achievement Test in the spring of the year to determine their progress and scholastic strengths and weaknesses (see school calendar for the dates). The results of this test will be made available to the parents. This test by all means will not determine whether or not your child will pass or fail for the year, this is simply a placement test. It allows us to know where it is your child struggles so that we may help them more efficiently. There is a $50.00 fee for this test and it is MANDATORY for your child to take!
PHYSICAL EDUCATION POLICY
The purpose of Physical Education at RPA is to promote physical fitness, promptness, and responsibility. In order to carry out our goals, we have implemented to the following policy.
1. PARTICIPATION - students will be graded according to participation
2. PARTICIPATION EXCUSES - illness or a special condition that prevents them
from participating in which we may ask for a note from a parent or doctor
SECTION FOUR
DISCIPLINE
RPA DISCIPLINARY POLICY
Discipline at RPA is consistent for the purpose of constructive molding of character. By learning to live within the limits of parental and school authority, the groundwork is laid for the student to learn submission to God's will in their life.
The first step in correcting a students misbehavior is to verbally correct them (not public chastisement) in class. The second step is to speak with the student and to pray with them.
The teacher may try creative discipline - isolating the student from the group, having the student put their head down, time-out, detention, a trip to the office, a phone call to parent from the teacher or administration. We understand here that each child is different and what may work for one child may not work for the other. Every child here will be treated as an individual.
Three discipline detentions, parents will be called into the office to discipline their child (paddling). Once your child has reached their third paddling RPA has the right to expel the student.
In order to avoid probable one-three day suspension, students will not engage in physical fighting!
LUNCHROOM POLICY
Students will need to bring a healthy sack lunch. The lunch period will be set for 30 minutes lunch (to eat) and 30 minutes for recess.
There will be a snack break at 10:00 a.m. or at the discretion of the teacher. This break time will serve to give the students a chance to rest and recharge as they eat a HEALTHY snack that they have brought from home.

following be observed:
A. If a parent/guardian is bringing lunch, money, books, homework, or any
articles of clothing it is MANDATORY for these items to be taken to the
office and not to the classroom.
B. All visitors to school need to report to the office to sign in, not the child's
classroom! This is to avoid having any more distractions in the classrooms.
C. At dismissal, children must be picked up at the dismissal area. Parents are
not allowed to go to the classroom.

BIRTHDAY POLICY
1. When it is your child's birthday we allow them to be host or hostess for the day.
Parents may arrange in advance with the child's teacher to provide refreshments
for the child's class. Parties will begin at 2:30. If you choose to do a party during
lunch time, you may also do so but keep in mind that you will be responsible to
provide for the entire school not just your child's class.
2. When having parties at home for ALL or for SOME of the classmates, encourage
your child to be sensitive to the feelings of others who may not be invited to the
party by showing restrain when discussing the party during school time.
3. No birthday party invitations may be handed out in the classroom or on school
grounds unless every child in the class is to receive one.
HOLIDAY POLICY
RPA encourages group celebrations for each of the following:
1. Thanksgiving
2. Christmas
3. Valentines Day
4. End of the school year
*Additional information
Please note, we have eliminated the celebration of Halloween for the following reasons:
1. It tends to create and instill fear in the children
2. The children learn the undesirable trait of greed through the "trick or treating"
3. The children tend to get so excited it is difficult to accomplish anything
academically during that week.
4. Deception is taught in the wearing of the masks instead of uplifting their own
self-image

FUNDRAISING POLICY AND GUIDELINES
All families are required to participate in the school fundraising activities. Fundraisers are very effective in helping keep RPA tuition affordable, improve the surroundings and education for the students. Parents and teachers will be notified throughout the school year concerning MANDATORY FUNDRAISERS. If student does not sell the minimum amount that they are asked to sell by the time the certain fundraiser is due, there will be a $50.00 charge per child for that certain fundraiser, and it will be due the day that the fundraiser ends.
Parents can help support with both time and talents. We would like to see 100% participation!
Families may choose not to participate in the fundraising activities and instead pay the equivalent of $200.00 per child. This payment must be made in either cash, cashier's check, or money order by September 15th. If you choose not to participate, please return the fundraiser form signed and dated with payment.
